Ajmer Sharif

It is also reffered as meeca of India & is the most sacred of all Muslim pilgrimage in India. It has a prominent background of royal dynasties.Even Akbar visited the tomb of Khwaja on bare foot to pray for a son and the boon was granted and the fame of Ajmer spread far and wide.Onwards then it is reffered as a wish granting place. The entrance to the complex is known as the Dargah Bazaar, it is a high gateway that leads into the first courtyard. The tomb is surrounded by silver railings & enshrined in a adomed marble chamber in the centre of the second courtyard near the magnificent & holy mosque of Shah Jahan. Devotees sprinkle rose petals and water over the grave when they pray here.

The tomb attracts hundreds of thousands of pilgrims, not only muslims but a large number of hindus, every year on the anniversary of the saint's death, the Urs, in the 7th month of the lunar calendar. Sweetened rice filled in degs(big earthen pots) is served to devotees on this day of Urs.So if one wants to have peace and harmony in his life then one has to visit this place once in a lifetime.
